Get Stumbler from Installer. It can search for hidden networks. My school's network is hidden and I found it using Stumbler and I asked one of my friends in the computer class and they gave me the name and password of the network.

Not all of us are so lucky. In Illinois, where I live, I have heard that it is state law that all wifi networks based on a public school's grounds must be locked with at least a WEP key. WTF?! That completely defeats the purpose if no one is allowed to use it. I have been lobbying my tech admin (he's a f***ing nazi) to set up a system to allow access but it apparently gets lost in the bloody beuracracy. Go figure. I still maintain a little hope that the ipod's wifi card will eventually have drivers developed for it that will allow it to go into monitor mode. It looks a little more hopeful now that ibooter can apparently get linux on the ipod and iphone.
