I think it is pretty fast. It is alot faster than my psp browser on the same connection. It really depends on the connection you are using.

You may have a fast wireless connection, but the processor on your Ipot is nothing compared to your Laptop or desktop PC so it will be slow compared to them.

Yes, see the jailbreak section of the forums, there are numerous threads on jailbreaking without a computer.

At the moment, no. You have to backtrack to 1.1.1 before to jailbreak into 1.1.2. You have to wait until there is an automatic jailbreak for 1.1.2 through Safari.

1.1.1 was the most recent and most successful automatic JailBreaking firmware. Now, there is 1.1.2, with a few bugs fixed, and ultimately, the TIFF Exploit used to JailBreak blocked. Also, the iPod Touch in 1.1.2 is clocked at a higher processing speed, thus you gain more power and speed out of your iPod Touch.

Now, they have a way to JailBreak 1.1.2, but you have to revert back to 1.1.1 and update on the JailBreak to 1.1.2. You can find a tutorial of this at the iPod Touch Jailbreak Forums seciton, one of the stickies to help you. If you do not feel comfortable with this, I'de encourage you to wait until an automatic program does this or the auto installer through Safari releases. ^^
