It is going to be another Vista again :( Why does Microsoft release the product when it is not even complete yet? That's really not a good idea.

After running the RTM since it was released I have to say I still am not that huge of a fan. I feel it is definitely more suited for tablets and M$ is doing wrong forcing the (Metro) on desktop and laptop users.

The Metro interface is optional, no?

Well I on the other land like Windows 8. It's Windows 8 with a nice speed improvement and a it-takes-time-to-get-used-to Modern UI (Metro). Running on my 6 year old laptop. Couldn't be better.

Until Otellini is more specific, we've got nothing to worry about. Unless Windows 8 needs developers.
If optional in this case is permanent. Then yes, it's optional.

No. You have to interact with it in one way or another. Starting with first powering on, (which boot times are actually nice) and slide the lockscreen up....on a laptop or desktop....lockscreen...slide....up.....Then you are greeted by the (Metro) interface...then you can chose to go to classic desktop.

I personally enjoy Windows 8, and look forward to developing/seeing others develop for Windows 8. This time around, Microsoft seems to have the right idea for tablets and PCs being unified in UI. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first, but now after using it for the majority of the year, I find it be an amazing upgrade and works nicely with all my software and hardware. Needless to say, I feel Intel is just pulling a Steam about Windows 8. (Meanwhile, Blizzard has already acknowledged they were previously wrong about Windows 8 being bad for gaming.)

It's definitely complete, which is proven by it giving new life to machines that might otherwise have been replaced. Also, it's proven through complete backwards compatibility of programs and drivers from Windows 7 (both drivers and programs) & earlier (programs only).
It's suited for both, due to its better use of resources (i.e. using less CPU when idle), adding to battery life with the end of Aero, and also faster boot times on the same hardware that currently runs Windows XP and above. Not to mention, the Desktop icon is only a click away when you initially log in to your computer.

I quite liked Vista. Am I the only one?

I loved it. When my friend ran it via bootcamp on his Macbook Pro. It was smoother and faster than Windows 7 on my family's PCs. On the PC it was terrible!
