Hi I have firmware 2.1.1 and just bought this 2g iPod Touch last week. I still have not been able to install the apps downloaded from iTunes. They do not appear on the first screen on the iPod with the standard apps there, and I thought they might be in some submenu, but no go. I have checked sync all applications and even tried sync selected applications, but nothing works. It was acting funny at one point and I did a restore. Everything works but this...

    any ideas? thanks!

Uhh try calling 1800-my-apple, just tell them whats going on. Try backing up all of your media (music, videos, apps) into one folder, uninstall itunes and then reinstal it. Dont do this unless its a last resort

thanks for the tip about the account... confusing! After fiddling around, I went into the apps area of iTunes, looked at the apps installed, and then doubleclicked on one and up came a dialog box telling me to log in to authorize them, despite the fact that I was already logged into my account on iTunes! after that everything worked...

pretty convoluted way to do things!

    Cheers

That's odd, I get prompted for a password when I download an app but not any other time. I've even downloaded them and installed them at a later date and I still only get prompted for a password once.

Are you running winxp or something else?

It sounds like you have to authorize you computer. Just enter your ID and password.
