I recently screwed up a jailbreak and reformatted to 1.1.4. Finally decided to re-jailbreak the thing through iLiberty+

When I was configuring the jailbreak it gave me the option to install Cydia, which I chose. I didn't know it was going to completely replace Installer, though. I like Cydia, but I still want applications like Summerboard, Bosstools, MobileScrobbler, etc.

So, is there any way I can put Installer.app onto my ipod touch without reformatting it again?

    Just the same problem

Hallo, I have just the same problem.

I tried to copy the Innstaller.app and put in root/Applications but it will not work... It just starts and jump back to the Home screen... I need help with this problem too!

You can add sources to Cydia by editing a .list file, (I don't know which one, sorry) but remember, not all sources are compatible with Cydia. The AppTapp repository is repository.apptapp.com

The second poster's problem is likely that you neglected to set permissions to 755.

Wait... so if I just SSH Installer.app onto my ipod touch and switch permissions, it will function without any problems?

If so then does anyone know where I can download Installer to my computer? I would stick with Cydia but adding sources that way is extremely annoying - as of now Installer would be much more convenient for me.

    Yep!
I can't find the new one, but download the old version from
    http://iphone.exploit.org/pxl/
    and then update via Installer.app

Well, the permissions should be set to 4755.

Try this command chmod 4755 Applications/Installer.app/Installer

If it mentions, root and wheel then try this command, chown -R root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app

    Good luck
