Okay so. I've got a 16GB thumb drive. Can I install/boot an OS from there?
Like, all that would be on it is a internet browser, etc.
Less that 1GB of data besides the OS.

Its great except for the fact that my graphics card is super old and makes the resolution 620x460 instead of like 1020x840

I boot BT3 off the flash drive. It's amazingly fast. I've never tried like a windows OS though.

I've read a lot that Win 7 won't work booting off USB or USB connect external HD's.

    So good luck.
