Yesterday, I decided to SSH into my iPod and change permissions in /System/Library/CoreServices/Sprinboard.app and /var/mobile to 777. This would let me stop worrying about permissions for a while at least, and my icons would finally change properly.

Now, whenever I open installer, it tells me that some things will not work properly because it is supposed to be run as root:wheel. It works fine, so how can I remove the error?

I think this should do the trick

    chown root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app

No problem; I'm glad to hear it worked.

For some reason it is not working and the command won't fix it. Would some other command work? A lot of apps are giving me the main script execution failed after using chmod 4755 /installer.app/installer.
