    Run these commands in terminal:

    su root

    alpine

    chmod -R 777 /Applications/Installer.app

    chown -R root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app

    chmod a+srx /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

    exit

    killall SpringBoard

When it resprings, open Installer and it will work correctly.

what if you download iCommander from cydia, and switch it from there? ive done it, but the message still pops up. Does this not work?

p.s.- i have tried putting in the command line "su root" and i enter the password as "alpine" and it says "sorry" and the password is rejected

No. iCommander does not change owners/groups, and you could not possibly add a+srx permissions through iCommander. Use MobileTerminal.
