    hey,
for some reason any time I open installer it tells me that permissions are incorrect and that it must be run as root:wheel. It let's me proceed.
However, some packages that modify the system, like cydia and skrew common, all give me the dreaded main script execution failed error. Normal packages that don't modify the system work fine.

I feel like the two problems are related. Is there a fix?

    You need not restore.

    Enter this command:

    chown -R root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app

    That should do the trick.

I dont know. Dont Try those backup tools. They are bull.

Yes, you will have to reinstall your apps... The First thing you do after you restore and rejailbreak is update installer.

You may have been forgetting the -R (for recursively). Your goal is to change the ownership of the entire Installer.app folder (everything inside it), not just the folder itself.
