Ok so up until yesterday my installer.app was working perfectly fine and everything. Then I decided to install terminal and the things like SUID lib fix and bsd fix, then found out I don't need them then uninstalled all 3 things. I thought everything was fine but found out that my refreshing in installer doesn't work, like it looks like it is working, it refreshes normally. But it doesn't do anything when it refreshes, like I had my repo in there and then I updated it, uploaded it and then refreshed my sources and none of the changes were there. So I restarted my iphone and tried again, and same problem. It's not just my source or anything because I just tried to refresh and get the new skrew common package (v. 1.2) and after I refreshed and restarted it still only showed version 1.0. So I would really like to find a fix for this problem, any help would be great and + rep! Thanks

Perhaps replace Installer.app with version 3.0 from the Backups thread? You could then update it.

It may be worth a shot.

I have never had that problem, but maybe permissions went awry somehow so try running this command

    chmod 4755 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

If this doesn't work, someone else may have a solution..

    Also try:

    chown -R root:wheel /Applications/Installer.app

ok, first reinstall bsd subsystem, cause when you uninstalled the fixes they must had removed something important from it. Then reinstall installer, once it finishes totally restart your iphone/pod "I mean turn it off then back on".

This should fix your problem, if it still dont work however try deleting your sources file in installer "I cant remember its exact location, but someone posted about it on here"

worst comes to worst you might have to restore, hopefully you will fix it tho

Ill look around and if I find anything ill post it.

The location of the sources file is ~/Library/Installer/PackageSources.plist. (I believe.)

    Look in that folder.

For the record: ~ replaces /var/root or /var/mobile. Therefore it shouldn't be placed in front of "/private/var..."

Ok I fixed it! thanks to all who helped me, + rep for all! I just backed up my installer folder in mobile, then deleted installer.app, rebooted, added an older installer.app, started that, let it update, then ssh into my ipod and replace the 2 .plists taht contain my sources and packages and restarted then boom it works.
