ill be getting my ipod on christmas morning, so im going to want to use it. If i open it at like 7/8 and trow it right on the charger, how long will it take to charge? and would it be ok if i just charged it for like 3/4 hours and took it off, or do i need to do a 12hour or so initial charge? I dont want to mess up/lower my battery life by not giving it a proper initial charge.

I think I read somewhere it takes 1 1/2 hours to charge 80% and like 2 or 3 (cant remember) hours for a full charge.

And don't worry about messing it up with a bad initial charge.

It is a common misconception now that batteries still have "memories" and can be screwed up by a bad charging cycle.

In the older days of nickel cadmium batteries, this was a real problem, but with advantages in technology, and the widespread upgrade to lithium ion batteries, it ceased to exist.

The battery charge is the least of your worries....it does take forever to transfer your library over to the touch and I only had an 8GB with 6GB of music. If you get a 16GB and have say 12-14GB of music, be prepared to wait a really long time to use it.
