How does apple check for damage on an ipod touch, other than the water sensor?
I covered up the water sensor in the headphone jack of my 2nd gen iPod touch. I'm about to go the genius bar to see if they will replace it, since it's still under it's first year of warranty. The sensor looks perfect, but do they check anything else before replacing it?

If you plug it in to a power source the screen turns on but it has obvious damage, it's solid gray, with a few bubbles, and lot of things that look like fractals. Will They do this at the apple store, and if they see that will they also refuse it for water damage? I covered up the water sensor fine but what do i say if they plug it in and THAT shows up?

    Summary:
If they turn it on and see the gray screen, will they flag that as water damage? Please advise

i wouldn't break it more. you can probably replace the screen yourself with some tutorials and the right parts. worth a go if apple says they can't fix it for you.

if it still has water in it, put in in a bowl of white rice and put tin foil over top of it.

Haha I got pushed into the pool at a party, so the moral is, if you go to a party don't take your ipod...

But yeah, i'm doing the rice trick and so far it's working pretty well, even though the screen is still a little screwed up, it's now telling me to plug it into itunes, I think.

there's a picture of a usb cable and arrow pointing to itunes, what does this mean?

It means you're in recovery mode, and you need to restore it with itunes.
