So I'm using Redsnow 0.72 to jailbreak and I'm at this step:

"Please make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer.

Click next ONLY when your device is BOTH off and plugged in."

I have my ipod in DFU mode right now, but I still have to shut off my ipod?

I thought it just had to be in DFU mode the whole time...

So leave it in DFU mode...?

Man. I don't know what to do. The instructions say shut it off but I keep reading to leave it in DFU mode.

So I finished with it and I ended up just leaving it in DFU mode.

It worked perfectly. You don't have to shut it off.
