In anticipation of the 3.0 firmware I wanted to try my hand at doing the full backup that stickied by the forum using SSH.

I attempted SSH through WinSCP first, but it keeps timing out halfway through. SSH is usually reliable enough for me with small files, but I don't think it will be possible on my network to complete these massive files.

Is there another program, even a payed one that is known to work well and can copy files via USB?

    Try Total Commander.

There's many tutorials around for it. Really easy to use, you just have to download a plugin for the iPod.

I'll try find you a link if I can.

Kind of annoying music, but it's the first one I found, lol. Here you go

WTF?? That was incredibly easy. I was able to manage it in ten minutes. Why are we doing SSH instead of this?

Thank you so much, I'll let you know if it manages to complete the backup.

You've helped me in more ways than one if this works.

    Sorry about the double post.

But it seems my enthusiasm was premature.

I can view all the directories and their contents, but when I try to copy "disk0" it indicates "Error downloading file!".

Am I missing something here or is this why we're using SSH? lol

Well, technically this is considered as SSH as well. Over wifi is just easier for smaller files such as .png when adding themes and whatnot.

When trying to backup your music and videos then the USB option is preferable because it's clearly so much faster, lol.

I use SSH only for themes basically and I always use wifi. The only time I do use USB is to backup my music

I'm sure it'll complete the backup. I never run into any problems when I do it and I've done it a good 7-10 times (unfortunately

Let me know how it goes anyway. And you're welcome.

What location is disk0? What is it exactly?
