I'm still doubting that the new iPod touch 4 only has 256 MB RAM

Although what iFixIt found pretty much answers the looming question of whether or not the new iPod touch has 512 MB of RAM, I still find it hard to base the "confirmation" of this off of one serial number on the back of the chip.

Unless somebody knows absolutely 100% that this marking HAS to mean that it is the same RAM as the iPad (256 MB), I won't believe it. Somebody has to confirm it another way, as this one marking isn't convincing enough for me.

Again, I understand that this is pretty much a sealed off topic because of what iFixIt found, I think that it still could have 512 MB of RAM.

But please, correct me if I'm wrong.

If you had bothered to look, you'd have found people have confirmed it only has 256MB by running a memory test app / GeekBench.

I don't trust those applications. For one, they're App Store apps. Also, on my iPod touch 32 GB 3G with 256 MB of RAM, when I would "free up memory" on unjailbroken 4.0, it would say that it was 80 MB of RAM. It gave me false information.

if you even bother to look at the picture:

you will see that it has a package # on it. If you research it is the exact same as the IPad meaning the same thing...which is 256Mb

Agreed. Regardless of whether or not you trust Apple, nobody makes different chips with the exact same part number.

If you even bothered to read my post..? Lol.

I literally just said that a serial number/marking doesn't convince me. JUST because the iPad has the same one, I haven't seen any actual sincere confirmation of them being the same chip in both devices.

What more evidence do you need? a document from FoxCon saying (Ok everyone load the ipt4g with 256Mb of ram!). If you expect a jailbreak to tell you aka SBsettings think again. That is basically the same as the apps on the app store.

Dude. My point is that the front page is misleading. There is no actual confirmation. It is just 99% of the way to being true.

Yeah. The evidence is right there. Plain and simple.

If it bothers you that much, go out and buy an iPad and the new touch and may be an iPhone and tear them apart and compare your numbers.
