    Okay.
So I download 3.0 onto my mac.
I install it, and all is well. I updated from 2.whatever.
It works. Later, as i'm using my ipod, the screen flashes white and goes into a boot loop.
It has been in a boot loop since.
I put it into DFU mode.
I goto restore on iTunes, and it goes...
On my ipod, as its restoring with the white loading bar going across, it flashes white and goes into a boot loop.
Itunes: Could not restore. Unknown ipod error (9).

I've repeated the DFU mode nonsense, same result.

I tried downgrading to 2.whatever i had before, same result.

    Help!

Do you have the latest iTunes 8.2?

EDIT: Nvm, I read that you installed it fine. Sorry, not sure what to tell ya.

    Yes. I forgot to mention.
I upgraded to iTunes 8.2 today.

In the midst of all this stuff, i checked the apple site.
It says to untinstall then reinstall iTunes 8.2
    I did so, same result.

Its obviously a problem with my ipod touch (second generation)

make sure you do the FULL uninstall, then reboot, then re-install, reboot again

StaticFX, please specify what you mean by a FULL uninstall.

if jailbroken with quick freedom the redsn0w thingy screwed up the bootrom or something like that get the "OFFICIAL" firmware 2.2.1 then uninstall quick freedom and the libusb if present then uninstall itunes and quicktime and restart ur pc 2 times(to cleanup well) then install the older itunes if u have it and try restore - don't try to jailbreak keep it real the whole purpose of this is to revive ur ipod

It was nonjailbroken. I reinstalled 3.0 onto the ipod touch.
I've tried this on both a windows and mac. Nothing works.

You might want to check your cable. I got something similiar when my cat bit into the cable halfway during restore (ouch) but I had an extra on hand.

Have you tried a forced restore with holding down your home button while you plug it into the cable and continuing to hold it down till connect to iTunes screen appears?
