iPhone 2G is the first one which only had Edge and Wifi. 3G is the Network, not the name.

I think the internet you will get will depend on what plan you have with T-mobile and whether they support edge which i'm not sure they do so you might only get Wifi.

Umm.. NO, the first iPhone has NEVER been referred to as an "iPhone 2G"

that doesnt make any sense whatsoever...

THANK YOU!: i was about to say since when the hell did people start calling the first iPhone the "iphone 2g", and i dont think the network has anything to do with why they call it the 3g. He is probably confusing the iphone 3g and the ipod touch 2g

Wow, really guys? It's called the iPhone 2G because it runs on the 2G cell network. 2G has nothing to do with what generation it is in the iPhone world. It's an iPhone 3G because it's on the 3G cell network. And most people call it an iPhone 2G (since the release of the 3G) to avoid confusion.

    iPhone 1g = 4gb model.
    iPhone 2g = 8gb and 16gb Edge/wifi only models.
    iphone 3g = 8gb and 16gb Edge/3g/wifi models.

1g was discontinued when 2g models came out. And then, of course, the 3g models were released.

    Do your homework kids.
