ok was just over at my friends house and we were messing with out brand new iPod touches. he just got his a day ago and restored from a backup of his ipod touch 2g... for some unknown reason he pulled a few jailbreak things with him. 1. he has a customized upper left hand corner like make it mine would do. 2. he has a battery percentage meter like sbsettings gives..... anyone know how the heck this happen or y it did or if its even feasable.

This has been known to happen. When you restore from a backup, it keeps some things (many settings, including the "battery percentage" one) and the "MakeItMine" settings is also kept (IDK why). But this is 100% feasible.

I think if you replace images manually through SSH, replacing the system defaults, then restoring from a backup. It will even replace the icons on the homescreen too.

because those are chaninges to the file system that are saved with the back-up (simple matter of replacing some strings of code). I had to set mine up as new because some left over jailbreak data casued major problems with my photo app. Unless he's having problems it should be completly harmless.

Mine was better when I updated to 4.1 briefly it had my 'iGod' in the corner but even weirder it didn't have the clock it just had 'metallica' there instead.

You have to go to var/mobile/Applications/ and find the apps folder and replace the apps default icon.png inside the .app folder. I'm not 100% sure. But, it probably works.
