not yet, but a jailbreak is coming soon. They found a bootrom exploit that will allow the device to allows be jailbroken. So for now, we just need to wait a little longer.

Does pwnd4life require a new tool after every firmware update? I understand the exploit is universal and everything

This exploit is universal, but not all of them are. No new tools will be required, it's a hardware exploit. But you will need an updated/upgraded tool to do it with new firmwares. You'll also have to wait and make sure that Cydia is updated to work for the new firmwares.
