Hi, I've got an android phone (Galaxy Spica) with unlimited internet, and I can't find a single IM app that will work over the 3G/Edge connection I get, even though my ancient Samsung F250 was able to run Windows Live Messenger with barely any problems.

When I connect to 3G and try to sign in, it just times out and cancels, whereas internet sites and other apps (Facebook) work perfectly...

I only got it because my phone company phoned me up and offered to give me it.
    Still, any helpful suggestions?

Still looking for an answer, I think it's a problem with my phone rather than the apps...

Strange. Try Meebo. That works great on my G1's edge connection, and I believe my friend's vibrant works fine when he uses AIM on 3G / Edge. Any of the instant messaging apps should work over your data connection.
