Plug it into itunes. Click the restore button.

This will take it back to default settings. Then your son will need to put all his music, Movies, Podcasts, Apps ect. Back on. And then it will be up and running.

Well his ipod was connected to itunes on another computer as the ipod was a gift and it came with everything on it.

As i said im a complete novice and dont have an ipod so you will have to talk to me in complete laymans terms. Will i now have to connect it to the itunes on my computer?? Will he loose all the stuff on it as i dont have any videos on my itunes or all the cool music that he had on it??

Can you connect the ipod touch to itunes on different computers? Will he be able to get the videos back on his ipod from his dads computer if i connect it to mine in the meantime?

And no its not backed up - we havent a clue how to do that!

Well, he's going to have his data deleted if the iPod is connected to another iTunes library - and he'll get the videos back if you get his dad's username and password, which I assume isn't a problem considering you're all family.

He can restore it, (erasing everything and restoring default settings), on your computer. He can then connect it to the computer with all his music and videos and put them on his iPod.
