iFans is Looking For Intern Writers [Apply Within]

Vigorous Media LLC, the parent company of iFans, is looking to fill four intern writing positions for the front news page. These positions will be unpaid, but all intern writers are always approached first when a paid position becomes available. Two interns in the past, Jacob Penderworth and Stephen Hall, both became paid writers for iFans after internship stints. Intern Writer #1 - Topic: Android / Google / Samsung

• Involves writing about the Android platform, asides from rumors and speculation
• Involves writing about Android partners, most notably Samsung and Motorola
• Involves writing about Android devices: Galaxy S III, Droid Razr HD, HTC One X, etc.
• Android market share and statistics
• General coverage of both Android- and Google-related news
• Android- and Google-related opinion pieces / question posts

Intern Writer #2 - Topic: Microsoft / Windows

• Involves writing about the Windows Phone 8 platform
• Involves writing about Windows Phone partners, such as HTC and Nokia
• Involves writing about Windows 8 as both a desktop and tablet operating system
• Microsoft Surface coverage
• General coverage of both Windows- and Microsoft-related news and rumors
• Windows- and Microsoft-related opinion pieces / question posts

Intern Writer #3 - Topic: App Store

• Involves writing about recent updates to popular App Store apps
• Involves writing about new App Store apps and games that iFans readers may enjoy
• General coverage of App Store-related news
• Controversial or newsworthy app-related coverage
• App Store opinion pieces / question posts
• This position may include a small budget to fund App Store-related expenses.

Intern Writer #4 - Topic: Jailbreaking

• Involves writing about new or upcoming jailbreak methods for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
• Involves writing about new or interesting Cydia tweaks, utilities or themes
• Interviewing popular iOS hackers or jailbreak developers
• Jailbreak-related videos (optional)
• Jailbreak status update posts
• Jailbreak opinion pieces / question posts
• This position may include a small budget to fund Cydia-related expenses.

General Requirements:

• You have a strong grasp of the English language, including grammar, punctuation and spelling
• You can write in a style appropriate for a tech blog like iFans
• You love tracking down news, breaking the story and steering discussions
• You have an eye for simple layouts of stories that make the post look good (and can find relevant pictures, videos, etc. to embed)
• You know (or will quickly learn) how to crop and resize images and embed videos
• You can deliver at least 4-7 articles per week

• A sample writing piece based on the topic you choose above (approximately 250 words, or whatever you feel necessary to prove your ability and style of writing)
• Example of an article you may consider writing on a slower news day

You work from home, definitely. These are unpaid internship positions we are looking to fill. Eventually it could become a paid writing job on contract should we need to expand our full-time writing team.
