I thought the tiff exploit fix is suppose to not let them brick ur iPod?
or something like that
who said you can brick your touch? Just dont update
the tiff exploit was the first step in jailbreaking you ipod... nothing to do with stopping apple bricking it with updates.
Just to clear things up, the new update won't brick your iPod! BUT as people said earlier in the thread it will make it temporarily (until someone figures out how to get past the security) imposible to jailbreak.
The TIFF exploit fix patches up the exploit so you cannot be attacked by something malicious that may be created in the future. It has nothing to do with bricking your iPod. The TIFF exploit allowed the hackers to get inside the file system of the iPod. Apple should have patched the TIFF exploit to protect our iPods from malicious TIFF files, but they didn't so the hackers were able to use that to jailbreak the touch. Now that you have jailbroken your touch you do not need the TIFF exploit anymore, so it is a good idea to patch it up for secruity reasons. That is what the download is for in the installer.app.
