The customize app allowed you to take diffrent themes and take every part of them to make your own theme

it also allowed you to edit system strings from within the app

someone should either port this app or make an app like it

WinterBoard is WAY better than Customize, and you can theme more, it's also easier because customize modifies system files. Winterboard does not.

If it could be ported to the point where all it did was allow you to edit your themes it would be cool, and a nice replacement to cydia

That's just it, we WANT to edit system files.
Customize allowed me to change "Slide to Unlock" to "Let's do this!", as well as edit many other strings.
With winterboard, I have to find a....theme file (?) and enable it

IMO customize was a pile of junk, not worth the time.

Ok so use iString. You can change any string from settings app.

Customize caused issues because it actually replaced the images you were looking to theme. As in, it deleted the original and replaced it with the image from your theme. If you forgot to make a backup of your original system theme, or somehow lost the backup once you made it, you couldn't revert to the default unless you wanted to restore. WinterBoard simply tells your device to display your themed images instead of the defaults.

And you can already change system strings with WinterBoard, as well as with MyStrings.
