With the ipod touch 4 coming out with facetime, do you think we will get an app like skype, or use the webcam on sites like omegle.

    Apple probably won't allow it.

Fring used to allow the use for the front facing camera for skype calls. But they dropped support for skype after some API dispute between them and skype. Kinda dissapointed i was hoping to use that for skype video calls. It seems that the skype app has no current support for video calling, and by now I'm not sure if it will include it anytime soon. The iPhone 4 has been out for two months. If skype wanted to do video calling on the iPhone 4 youd think they''d have been on the ball with it. I am dissapointed.

Apple opened up the FaceTime API, so any app is free to implement it.

    That's correct.

FaceTime itself is an open protocol, so other manufacturers could theoretically pick up on the protocol, and make a FaceTime enabled device of their own.

I hope an app comes out just using Facetime kind of kills the purpose, Skype on the other hand a lot of friends use it so it would be good to have skype compatibility
