I want to keep applications open

    Hi,

    I dont know it is a lame question or not but i bought the ipod touch yesterday and jailbroke it to 2.1. the question is i want to keep applications open in the background like IM programs but when i press home(1 click) to turn back to main screen, all programs close.

    Could you pls help me

    The firmware specifically prevents apps from running in the background, they are sandboxed.

    Only applications that are not officially approved by Apple (From Cydia, SSH, or Installer) can remain open in the background.

    If you've jailbroken, apps can run in the background just fine. They just have to be programmed to do so. I had PocketTouch working quite nicely in the background. The only caveat is that the app can't eat too many resources, or it will be killed.

    I think I told you. I had PocketTouch changing the track every 12 seconds.

    Sorry, I think that they are all on the App Store. You might want to look through Cydia just to be sure, but as far as I know, there are none.
