I've heard too many complaints and problems from jailbreaking. Either an app won't work, the ipod gets messed up or the ipod has to be re-jailbroken.

So, what are the chances that all or any of this will happen if I jailbreaked (jailbroke?) my ipt2g?

Also, I've already upgraded to 3.0 and have heard that you can't jailbreak once the firmware has been upgraded. Is this true?

Dude, every question you've asked can be answered by simply exploring the threads. Even a retarded monkey on crack can jailbreak.

Yes, you will most likely run into problems, but many if not all of them can be solved. And no, 3.0 can be jailbroken... explore this site.

    Thanx for your help.

I was afraid of losing what I already have on the ipod. Cut me a little slack, guys. I'm new to this. I do searches (you'd be surprised how many questions I wanted to ask before I searched and found answers), but I just come across problems people have with jailbreaking. Maybe I'm searching the wrong thing.

I'll check around for more answers...

    Hey all,

Im also new to the whole iPod Touch thing and have spent the last few days reserching these boards looking for answers to my many questions.
    I just ordered a refurbished 16gb 2 g iPod Touch and I'm super excited.
I do want to jailbreak the iPod for custom themes but as said, I'm quite a newbie
I just have a couple little questions however -

1.) Should I set up my iPod Touch first, charge it fully and then attempt a jailbreak or try to jailbreak it right out of the box?
2.) Can you use the factory installer for the paid apps on the iTunes store? Ie. can I still get the apps from the iTunes store when it's been jailbroken? * - Please note I do not want to do anything illegal and want to pay for all the not-free apps I get.
3.) Would you recommend a theathered or untheathered jailbreak for a newbie like me. There are many instructions out there and I'd like to find the easiest way.

    Thanks for your help,

    Zac

I would set it up first, but I don't think it matters
Yes, you can buy apps through the app store on your iPod

So, in that case would the firmware be upgraded to 3.0 upon initial setup? Can I downgrade to the 2.2.1 and how would I do this?

Second, do I need a specific version of iTunes? I believe I'm running 8.1 on a Mac
    Thanks man!
