I know hardly anything about this stuff. I've had my ipod jailbroken by a friend a few times, I have 3.0 firmware currently. But everytime cydia f***s up. Cydia clear will never fix it and I've read someplace that cydia and the 3.0 jailbreak is glitchy. So yeah, useless ipod when I have it jailbroken with the 3.0 firmware. I've tried it all, it always f***s up.

I want to re-jailbreak it with blackra1n because that is easy for noobs to use. I already restored it but didn't update the firmware. there isn't a jailbreak for 3.1.3 which my itunes will only let me update to. I want 3.1.2 so I can use blackra1n because it is easy enough for me to use. I have a 16g 2g ipod, not an MC model BTW, and I want to upgrade to 3.1.2 so I don't have anymore trouble, jailbreaking with 3.0 is really sh*tty, and I can't even use my ipod as cydia won't do crap, it won't update or download anything. and if it does work after re-jailbreaking it, in a week or so it will glitch up again.

so yeah, how do I get the 3.1.2 frimware so I can use blackra1n?
    thanks...

download the 2g ipsw file, then shift+restore, go into DFU mode before if needed

I basically know nothing, if I could just upgrade to 3.1.2 I could follow a guide to blackra1n, but I can only get 3.1.3

    ???

Find the 2g firmware file. Then go into iTunes, hit shift and the restore button. Restore to the file.

well you cant get 3.1.2 legally for ipod touch 2g, just go on google and search

after you've gotten the file, in itunes press shift and then hit the restore button. then select the file you downloaded. then follow onscreen directions

I'm downloading it from [PIRACY.mu] right now, and then saving it in my downloads folder, and then I'm gonna press shift and hit update and select that file.

    is that right??

You'll click Restore+shift and locate the file.
