I've been trying to use blackra1n to jailbreak my iPod (2G, 8GB, 3.1.2).

I plug it in, press the button, and the picture comes up on my iPod's screen, it reboots, but after that all I get is the 'Connect to iTunes' screen. I've tried using blackra1n about 5 times now, it hasn't worked at all.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a known bug?

There shouldn't be a problem, I just jailbroke my 2nd Gen 16GB five minutes ago with blackra1n.

Try restoring completely first, then leave the ipod on, and run blackra1n (there's no need to go into DFU).

Restored and tried again, but it didn't work. The Connect to iTunes screen is still there.

I think my iPod is angry at me for some reason.

you need to restore it with the original apple 3.1.2 before using the jailbrake

i used the jailbreak on a 8g 2g touch on the weekend and it worked fine

    Try this:
When you get to the 'Connect to iTunes' screen, close blackra1n, run blackra1n, and 'make it ra1n' again.

I have a similar issue, whenever i attempt to restore, my ipod/itunes freezes and eventually my ipod goes to the "connect to itunes screen" I've tried DFU and re-downloading the firmware as well as re-installing itunes. Does anyone have any other ideas?

when it says connect to itunes...

    DO YOU? connect to itunes?.

because usually when it says connect to itunes one would naturally connect the device to bloody itunes as per instructions clearly stated by the picture on said device.

    my advice:

    1. connect to itunes
