EDIT: PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED. THANKS.

Not sure what I did, but when I restarted, I got this message. I think it was due to downloading some program that lets you change firmware verisons.

I was on 1.1.4 when I jailbroke it, and then used some software to fool it into thinking it's older firmware so I could install the google maps, mail, etc. That worked perfect, until I just install the program mentioned in the first paragraph.

Is there any way I can fix this now without having to reformat the whole thing and start over?

What buttons do I hold to do a restore?

Edit: If I hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously, I'll get the Apple logo, but it just comes back to this screen. Looks like I'm stuck here unless I can return it, or figure out what this "exit" command is.

When I plug the USB cable in I get this...

Im afraid you are going to have to DFU mode it about 3 times, this has happened to me.

Hold both buttons for ten secs, release the menu button(bottom) and keep holding the power button. Do that around 3 times until it comes up in restore mode then restore with iTunes.

No luck so far. Does it matter if the cable is plugged in or not? I've tried both.

Still not working. I always end up back at the same screen =-/ Should the screen be off or have the Apple logo when I release the Home button?

it can be done manually. Unplug it, turn it off. DO NOT PRESS POWER. Press and hold home button for 15-20 seconds, plug it in (keep holding), and hold home for another 15-20 seconds until you see that iTunes recognizes it. YOU SHOULD NOT SEE ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN. IT SHOULD BE OFF. If it is not off, then shut it down and try again until you succeed. It may need 10-20 tries. Don't worry, it can be fixed. And most important, DON'T PANIC!

You, my friend, are a God among men. I'm back to the basic 1.1.4 screen. Now I have to start the long painstaking process of putting eevvverrryyytting back on it.
