    Hi all,

I just had an ipod nano 5th generation in my hands and noticed that you coudnt turn radio on if the earbuds where not connected since they function as an antenna,

Isnt this the perfect solution for the iphone? use the earbuds as antenna just like the ipod nano does?

Maby this could be made via jailbreak etc ?

Only problem here is that the fm receiver has to be activated by apple through a firmware update, it probably needs a code that only apple knows.

@narwal, why custom headphones? ipod nano uses the same principale and it works perfect with the apple headphones that you also plug into your phone etc

The nano has a radio function as well as the chip. The touch devices have the chip but nobody has dont anything that interfaces with it. Having an antenna wont do anything until an app is made that works with the chip itself.

Devices that use the headphones for the antenna (Some phones, iPod nano .etc) use the circuit inside the earphone to transmit the sound info to the speakers and to recieve the radio. You could use any headphones you want, not just specificly made ones.
