So my computer area is under these shelves where I have all my tools and components for electronics and soldering. Well I have to big orange handled ratcheting screwdriver, and it had a really fine flathead tip in it. And it fell on my Macbook and put a nice little gash in my shiny smooth lcd. It's about an inch long and at that angle where it magnifies the pixels it's over. What can I use to buff it out or fill it?

    Inch long?
    Magnifies light?

Sorry, but that sounds really bad. I doubt you can buff it out.

Call Apple and see how much it is to replace the screen.
    (If you're that willing)

is your macbook screen glossy (glass) im assuming it is. not the unibody though. i might be able to fin you a guide and some parts to fit it yourself! ill try

    edit: heres the glass part.here

    good: its cheap!

bad: its white. the frame of the screen would be white not black

heres a guide. lucky for you you only need to do step two.

Glass sounds like a good idea, but the Lcd is scratched, and there's no glass in the first place. It's just the standard plastic high gloss. And the scratch isn't as bad as you may all think. It looks like a really coarse (like creepy uncles arm hair coarse) hair stuck to the screen. It's just left of center by and inch or two, and spans from mid bookmark bar to about 15~ pixels under the tab bar in Safari. It's in a really annoying spot.

    I thought this was cool:

But then again, I am still under apple care for the next 2 years. So I don't want to void anything if something inside were to break. It might be cheaper than finding a apple Lcd to replace my current one. But also I heard something about a filing polish compound that doesn't get rid of it, but makes the scrath flush with the surrounding surface. I was hoping some one had used or knew of a polish like that.

You can't polish it out. Either buy a new glass screen or get used to it and be more careful in the future
