I went to the AT&T store today and asked if they had iphones[old] in stock and they said yes and i want to buy an iphone, the question is should i go for the old or for the new 3G?

Do u guys think it will be unlocked/jailbroken soon[the 3G one]?
I really dont plan on using 3G because the rates of my company are sky high!
I want it to be unlocked but i could probbly wait a month for the 3G one to be unlocked.

    Thanks
    Any help appreciated.

As, soon as the dev teams can hack it. Well, it is using the 2.0 firmware. around $340
    US dollars.
The expected date is around that time

I believe that 2.0 will be "jailbroken" and hopefully unlocked sooner then any other firmware (except 1.1.2 which was jailbroken before release) The firmware can already run unsigned applications and SSH so "jailbreaking" as we know it is already possible. The baseband update has been available since the first leaked 2.0 build so I'm hoping (for you, I have AT&T) that the Dev Team has been working on it since then. IIRC, they already unlocked the beta builds, so maybe you're in luck!

June 9th is the "confirmed" date but, ya know, nothing is really confirmed until Apple says so.

We haven't seen any confirmed jailbreaks of 2.0 past the 3rd Beta yet though, have we?

i would get the old iphone as u dont need the 3g and there wont be any major changes as developers have been developing for the old iphone and any way 2.0 will be out one the old one aswell . so the question is do u need 3g ,if u dont i would get the old one.
