    Hi!!

I need real help here. I have an Acer Aspire with Internet Explorer 7.0 and Windows Vista Home Premium. My DSL is wired by Verizon. I own an Ipod Touch 2nd Gen, 8GB.

What do I need to do (step by step) to get roaming wi-fi on my Ipod Touch? Whether on the bus or walking around NYC or France? If I need a wireless router, which kind? If my laptop needs a wireless or network adaptor, which kind? How does one fill out the form when you try to join a network? What is "Static" "Boot" "client id", "Ip Adress", etc....?

Thank you so much in advance for any answers!!

You can't. You don't understand wifi very well, do you?
A router is connected to your modem and has a limited range.

    What he said ^^

    You need a router,

the path is: the cable from the wall to your modem to your router to your laptop

it creates a wireless signal within a radius of 200 feet give or take how many walls there are

and (as a suggestion) Vista+IE7=a laggy piece of crap

    windows7+firefox3.5=pure happiness

wifi is usually limited to 100 metres. one of my friends however got an old BC radio antenna and hocked it up to his router and now he has wifi for about 10 km around his house. but its probably more practical to just buy an iphone, lol.
