he just bought a brand new 2g ipod touch and i used a video on youtube that seemed to work very well and a few hours later he tells me he turned it of and now he cant turn it back on, i told him to hold down the power and home button for 25 seconds and it should reboot but he said it didnt work. then he plugged it in and the computer says it dosnt recognize it.

any ideas what went wrong or if its my fault, im no nood to jailbreaking the 1g and im pretty sure every thing went perfect so im really confused, is it in DFU mode?

    You did the tethered jailbreak.

    Use redsn0w to jailbreak.

You seem to have done the tethered jailbreak.

Put his ipod in DFU mode and run reds0w 0.3

    www.reds0w.com

Nothing went wrong? You did the tethered. Its an old method the Dev Team released so they could save the Untethered till the new iPhone came out.

You would have to connect your ipod to a computer and send over the codes to boot it up.

The codes used to make it boot.
This was around Feb. and march, when only tethered jailbreaks were available.
It means when you turn off your iPod, it cant turn on unless u send it the commands via your computer or ti-83 calc.

just put it into DFU mode, and then open up redsnow .3 (2G jb section)

You used a very old, outdated video
