    Oh, lol...

Is it jailbroken? Sometimes with Apps like MewSeek and Swap Tunes or something similair it messes up your iTunes library on the iPod so that it becomes unreadable.

This problem is because of your iTunesDB file. It tells your mobilemusicplayer.app what the song names, artists, and albums are.

If you used mewseek or swap tunes, that could be what caused the problem. SSH (or use mobilefinder) and browse to var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes. There should be a file in there called iTunesDB. If you used mewseek, it made a backup of this file, so there should also be a file called iTunesDB.bak.

if the backup is there, remove all your music using itunes.
    THEN
Rename the to iTunesDB.bak to iTunesDB and then reboot. That should fix it.

okay i have a similar problem except that iTunes is saying I have 13 gb of "other"
And I have downloaded mewseek, but deleted it because it didnt work for me about 2 months ago
and this 13gb of other just happened last night....

and the backup is NOT there when i ssh
    so what should i do?
    restoring is my last resort...

I noticed the iTunes color-code has changed to Audio (blue) Video (purple) and Other (orange). The Apps are still there. The Apps (green) however are no longer listed, and are probably included in the Other category.

I thought I would mention it.
