My iPod is connected to the charger now. when I wanted to pick it up I felt electrical shock , and it was not so weak...
what is the reason for it? and could it damage the iPod?

You might have been dragging your feet along the carpet and created a lot of static electricity?

If its under warranty use it as an excuse to get a new one.

Could have been poorly grounded when charging. I've gotten a good few shocks from my 5G iPod.

That happens when I touch my USB cord (which is attached to my computer) sometimes. It's static on your body.
