This started out as a shot in the dark.

    * Only tested on a hackint0sh

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to thank deepower for doing test restores when I was too afraid too.
    THANKS A LOT DEEPOWER
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Step One)
Open Start Menu, and type Run
    Type %appdata%
Navigate To Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software Updates
Change the name of your 3.0 firmware to this: iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore

    * Make sure you rename your original 2.2.1 firmware file (if applicable) to prevent rename problems.

    Step Two)
    Open QuickFreedom
    * QuickFreedom should mistake the 3.0 firmware for the 2.2.1 firmware

    Step Three)
    Select Change Boot Logos

    Step Four)
Select a boot logo from their list, or upload a custom one
(must have at least one pixel of transparency)

    Step Five)
Relax As QuickFreedom creates a Custom NOR Firmware

    Step Five)
Put Your iPod in RECOVERY MODE

    Step Six)
Shift Click Restore (in iTunes) and restore with NOR Only Firmware

    Voula.

    * I completely made up this idea and it turned out to work.
    * Again, thank deepower for testing the firmware restores.

Ya this will work. Just warning ya guys about stability problems you could run into. QuickFreedom replaces the 3.0 applelogo fie with 2.2.1 applelogo file. I also believe that it patches the LLB. So I am assuming you are loading 3.0 with a 2.2.1 LLB. Which is possible, have tested that before. In conclusion, you will get stability problems at some point. Stay safe, and only replace the applelogo file. Posting a tutorial shortly.

EDIT: I will post a tutorial as soon as I write a user-friendly program to patch the applelogo file.
