Right, I'm a first time jailbreaker.

I've got a 16GB 2G touch running iOS 4 public, and it's an MB model.

I downloaded the firmware, followed redsn0w's instructions, and it worked fine. for 2 minutes. Then all Apple-based icons (settings, App Store, Music, Safari, etc) just disappeared. I synced, tried a reset, and searched in Spotlight, but to no avail. So I restored through iTunes.

Then I tried again. This time, the iPod stuck at Downloading Jailbreak Data...
    Another restore.
    Another attempt.
It stuck at that screen again.
Restored again, and now I'm posting here.

If it helps, I was using 0.9.5b5-4, on Windows 7 32-bit.
Any ideas? (ignore the iPod in my postbit, I haven't visited here in ages)

PS: won't be able to answer any questionst until 4PM GMT, off to work now.

Aiwa: I will do tonight, will post back when I have.

Just trying it now with b5-5. It's got past that stage so far, hopefully it'll work...

    EDIT: Working flawlessly so far

Thanks for your help. (btw b5-5 hadn't been released when I tried to jailbreak it initially).

the problem is, you have to update it to 4.0 via itune first. Once you are done then use latest beta redsnow to jailbreak it.

That's what I had done in the first place. I'm glad it's working now... now I'd better load it up

I'm having the exact same problem. Safari and all those apps were gone. I didn't try a second time and get stuck at a screen though
