I got an e-mail yesterday, which i only read today, telling me I can use Lima in beta. I've used it a bit, and I'd thought I'd share some stuff about it.

    • Browser based Cydia
    • Can be used on multiple browser (I've tested Chrome and Safari)
    • Faster than Cydia
    • It looks better than Cydia by far IMO
    • It has 2 different servers so in case one crashes (Does Cydia have this? Tell me an I'll fix it)
    • It uses 3 cydia sources (in the next {according to their What's New section} update, you can add other sources soon), Bigboss, ModMyi and Saurik's repo.
    • OTA installations may come soon (Apple Tv :p)
    • So will backups
    • It doesn't take ages to load packages
    • I was expecting, like when you first open Cydia, all the packages had to load, that did NOT happen :)
    • You can still purchase themes, tweaks and apps
    • Searching speed is greatly improved than cydia's
I could probably add a lot more, but I'll be using Lima instead for now, unless I need rpetrich's or other repos.

Actually you can't, you have to activate your device. 1 per invite/e-mail.

Developers got upset last time a 3rd party was distributing their packages without consent. Lima better be writing tons of emails.

Cydia is tried, tested, and more-or-less true. Everyone always complains about Cydia's shortcomings, but this seems like an App Store-ish alternate: a webapp, and there's plenty of problems with the App Store app too. The speed you are experiencing is most likely due to the very small amount of users now. Add a couple million jailbreakers and we'll see how the speed holds up.

Also, way too many grammatical errors on the Lima blog for me to even take them seriously.
