I'm having some serious problems bringing my iPod Touch 1gen alive.

I've been experiencing some iPod freezes, quick battery discharges and screen "blanking"

So I've decided to reset all my settings - didn't work.
Then I've found option in iPod Settings called sth like "restore ipod" (which told me that this process would wipe all my data and settings, and should take approx. 2 hours).
I left my Pod and next morning I wanted to restore original firmware, but iTunes wouldn't cooperate ... it threw some error (21 I guess), so I've put it into DFU. That didn;t work either. In fact, I'm stuck in DFU
Now I cannot do ANYTHING, I've tried PwnageTool, Ziphone (throws "USBMuxListenerCreate: Unknown error: 0"), Installed fresh OSX on new partition with old iTunes, Ziphone still didn't work, updated iTunes, still nothing ...
So ... what's wrong with my iPod ? Is there a way to "unbrick" it

I too am having major problems installing new firmware, (3.0), on my touch. I have had to restore my ipod 5 times, (using a different computer), following error 1602. Tried all the usual tricks, can anybody out there solve our problems please??

It would be nice If there was a Terminal-ish way to fix it (because i don't believe there is other way ...) And I don't want to spend money in Apple service :/

DFU Restore to the stock apple firmware by shift-clicking it.

I don't believe you can downgrade your Touch 3.0 from iTunes 8.2, due to the fact 8.2 will only focus on 3.x firmwares in the future. I suggest installing an earlier version of iTunes and to restore your Touch to an earlier FW.

patrykens.. did you read my previous post..? You can try to fix your Touch by reinstalling a previous version of iTunes to restore from a previous FW.
