Today i thought would be the day i would leave verizon and go to at&t to get an iphone 3gs. I was super happy. My mother called verizon to see what the charge would be to cancel our contract at verizon. somehow the conversation went from "we would like to cancel" to "sure we'll stay with verizon". Verizon gave my parents like 50 bucks off on the monthly bill. So now im stuck there. so i have a few questions... My phone can be updated around june 2010. is there any possibilty of an iphone for verizon by then cus i cant stand how verizon has the exact same look for all of their phones. not the outside but like the screen stuff... also my parents took off my ability to get games so i cant have any more fun. anyway thanks for any help on making this less as bad as i thought it was or if there is any hope at all....

Verizon uses CDMA, which is used primarily only in North America. I doubt Apple would EVER make two separate iPhones, one using GSM for the majority of the world, and one just in scattered areas for CDMA. Think about production costs.

EDIT: So there is no way, even if you unlock your iPhone to get it working with Verizon.

Oh, ok. I agree with you, Apple wouldn't make 2 iPhones.

@ OP: Just remind your parents why they wanted to switch to AT&T. Those verizon goodies won't last forever.

Verizo uses CDMA networks and doesn't use sim cards. AT&T uses GSM networks and uses sim cards. The networks are incompatible so it won't work ever. Apple will most lilly release an iPhone for Verizon next year, the AT&T and Apple exclusivty deal will be up. Apple is also super pissed at AT&T for things like crappy coverage, no MMS, tethering, etc. AT&T will launch LTE (4G) networks next year like Verizon so they will have compatible so it's likely next year. Verizon offered my mom two Blackberry Storms but she said no.
