Well as you folks know all the applications you install, installs files that go into a Library folder to /private/var/mobile/Library well i changed this one file... and everything i install now goes to /private/var/root/Library/ and /private/var/root/Media/ =\ Along with a summerboard fix. Here is a screen shot of summerboard i got the icons to work and dock but can't get the background to work. Following this method means that you are taking full responsibility.

All the emulators now work, but i'm wondering if this will break the sdk release. If anyone wants to know how to get files to install to /private/var/root/Media and /Library just post here and tell me and i'll tell you how.

Cause after i did the little hack i rebooted my ipod, all my settings were gone and everything reseted but everything like preference that is usually under /private/var/mobile/library/preferences/ is now under /private/var/root/library/preferences

it basically rewrote all the files in the under /root/library/ weird but check this out:

    snap_211025.jpg
This shows a little proof of 1.1.3 cause only in 1.1.3 can u have 4 pages with like only couple icons on them.

To get your files to install in /private/var/root/ Library or Media instead of /private/var/mobile/ Libarary-Media then do this.
    1. Download this plist file View attachment SystemVersion.zip
    2. Extract it
    3. Put it in /System/Library/CoreServices
    4. Reboot don't just respring

What this does is replace your version id to 1.1.2 however for some magical reason it changes your installation location.

Customize bearly works somethings work but the main things don't so for that we'll need to wait for a new version unless i mess around some more and find something else.

Main focus is anyone know how to change wallpaper now =\?

    To change the icons:
    1. Follow the steps above to install the plist file
    2. After you reboot and all changes have been made.
    3. Go into the installer and install summerboard
    4. Respring
    5. Download and install themes.

However that might work but what i did is
    1. Manualy install summerboard: http://www.apptapp.com/summerboard/
    SET PERMISSIONS
    2. I then created a symbolic link in /private/var/root/Library
To do so use winscp: Right click in the folder and go to New -> Link
    3. For the first box type in: SummerBoard
    4. For the second box type in: /private/var/mobile/Library/SummerBoard
    5. reboot the ipod
    6. Select a theme with icons that changed and the icon would chagne or the status bar.

Wallpaper and dock seem to be the buggy part. I changed my dock by dragging in a dock image into /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
    renaming it to SBDockBG.png

    Take Care,
    Jon

Do note it also moves your music to /private/var/root/media/

    did you reboot or respring

Download tha summerboard file, and drag the com.springboard.plist into the /system/library/launchdeamons [not correct spelling]

make sure you backup the other com.springboard.plist file

By doing what you did with the dock, that has nothing to do with Summerboard. You can do that anyway, without installing summerboard. That's part of the built in Springboard, APPLE'S own files.

I thought SMB didnt work for icons until I restarted (slide to power off, then normal turn on).

Worked fine for me. Good tut!

Hmmm, I can't even get the theme list to appear in Summerboard.

When I press theme, it's just empty.

    am I doing something wrong?

    [edit]

    Okay, I found my problem.

    what it SHOULD be

The B in SummerBoard needs to be capitalized.

but now I'm having the same problem as captnsan. My icons still don't change after a reboot.
