Firstly, there's no iMac section (right?), and idk why i put it in off-topic. So I did it!!! For $20. I got it at a fundraiser im helping with i helped set up, so i got picks I bought an indigo iMac. Yeah, the ooooollld one. So. Once I get it connected to the Internet I can see if I can download stuff (neo office maybe?). I think it's running Tiger...I'm not sure though. Um...there is an admin account, but there is a password. Is there a way to reset the admin password or bypass it? Jeez...The Mac OS is fabulous!!! I love it!!!!!!! It brings so much joy to me to own a Mac (be it old). Anyways. Just need help with resetting the password. I'm gonna try and see if I can find the guy who brought it and see if he knows the password, bc I helped him unload it from his truck. Cheers! Now I can use Mac and start gettin used to it
1.Power on or restart your Mac. 2. At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode. 3. Type sh /etc/rc and press Enter/Return. 4. Type passwd username and replace “username” with the short name of the user account for which you’d like to reset the password. 5. Type your desired password and press Enter. It won’t show itself on the screen, so be careful what you type. You will most likely have to enter it again to confirm. Type Reboot and press enter If that doesn't work try this one. This is 50/50 on Tiger /sbin/mount -uw / rm /var/db/.applesetupdone Reboot
So...if I mess up and have to reboot, will I have to login to the account again? Bc there is a password for it, but it automatically logs in without requiring the password. And where do I type all this stuff???
@Tim-Nelson it will be one big command prompt sceen basicly. it will *probs* login automaticly afterwards. But im not 100% on that.
