Today while getting out of the car, I was listening to my iPod. It was in my pocket. As I got out, the earphone wire caught on the car and tugged my iPod out of my pocket. It hung by the earphone cable for about 10 seconds, then the wire came out and the iPod fell on the road, screen down and slid a bit. By some miracle, once I cleared the dirt off, there was no damage to the screen. No scratches, marks, bumps or otherwise.

Considering I dropped a Sony Ericsson k800i, with a much tougher screen on the same part of the road a few months ago and effectively destroyed the screen with scratches, this is really lucky.

i had a close call when my was listening to my ipod at my desk plugged into a wall charger, then i tried to walk away without unplugging it... it fell a few feet but these things are pretty tough to break.

i've had that... they get designed to hold onto the ipods hard now (the earphone jack)... mine only dropped out of the car and dangled by the earphones for a second while i recovered it though.

and your k800i has a nowhere near as tough screen as the iPt!!!!

My nano was so light i could practically throw it to the ground and the headphones would hold. I could dangle it and swing it back and forth

I heard the iPod Touch was designed to substain tough impact. O_O I've dropped my iPod Touch in P.E Lockers., and it hit a cement block holding a bench. Hit the corner. Got scared, but no scratches or anything. <3 iPod TOUCH!

Mates, you should see how my iPod touch has dropped from high tables and even from my pocket while jogging... Thankfully the rather robust silicon case protects the body from any major dents, scratches, and damage whilst the screen is adequately shielded by an effective protector...
