I think some other guy took that project over and is still developing, last I read it wasn't booting though
Yeah it has Motoblur (gag) but I have Go Launcher (for widgets), Widget Locker, Status Bar +. So you cant even see Motoblur and I am one of the few that love the Motoblur Social Widgets.
Awww Motoblur lets you use the widgets with a different launcher?! I wish Sense or MIUI did that! I'm not a fan of either's stock launchers, but I love the widgets they have.
Oooooh. After thinking about it, I'm not sure if I'd actually like ICS as my daily use ROM on my Droid. It's amazing on my Touchpad and HD2, but considering that after adding a few widgets to my homescreen on Gingerbread, the Droid falters a bit, ICS isn't going to be any better.
Yeah its wicked. And Motoblur Stock laucher lets you resize all widgets. I would love Motobur but hate that they haven't optimized it for the hardware and I HATE the blue status bar. What is your favorite launcher?
I like the Sense 3.5 launcher a lot; I think it's just gorgeous. As for 3rd party ones, I'm not sure. I like Zeam a bit, but in some ways its too minimal for me [it's advertised as being a minimalist launcher, but I wish it was a little less so, otherwise I like it]. 360 launcher is cool as well, it has some awesome app drawer transition animations. Oh, and Trebuchet. I have yet to try it in tablet style on my phone, but it's awesome on my TP.
This post is pointed Directly at @ElectroBeijing Lauchers - Tried out Zeam laucher and it is too minimal for me but I know some of my friends that will love it. 360 Launcher - I have never heard of this launcher but is it the best launcher EVER, I love the themes and the Music/Photos/Pictures tabs in the App Drawer, AMAZING. Launcher PRO - Great laucher but not enough customization for me but I stll use it sometime when I want a change. ADW Laucher EX - Love this launcher but the only problem is that the Transparent App Drawer. Laucher 7 - Great launcher always use this after using my friends WP7 for a while. Why I Like Stock- Motoblur widgets - I love that you can use Motoblur widgets with custom lauchers. Hacker Friendly Phone - HTC HD2 - I would really like on of these just to play around with but I would be buying off eBay and most of the phone's on eBay only ship to the US and since I live in AUS its a bit hard. But these phones sound amazing I have been checking out the development section on XDA and there is soooooo much stuff there and %99.99 of it is actual roms not just stupid questions like in the Atrix section on XDA. Nexus One - This phone sounds amazing (I like that word) and very hacker friendly. Just like the HD2 the development section is legit and actual Development not like the Atrix one. Evo - I have been looking at the Evo's and I cant find any Original Evo's that will ship to AUS and there are about 28023 types of Evo's out there and i'm not really sure what one I want to get. I think that is all for now !
Does the Atrix have an MIUI port from MIUIAndroid? They did a really good job of translating pretty much everything [minus theme names] into English, and I get much better performance from their ROMs than MIUI.us [ I know there's lots of other country/language specific ports, but those are the main ones in use for English I think] The most developed for EVO is the EVO 4G. All of them [ EVO shift, EVO 3D, etc] have a fair share of ROMs, but the 4G's is the largest dev base by far. The Nexus One is a good phone for ROMs [obviously, as it's a flagship]. However, the one issue I always had is I would fill up it's measly 512 MB NAND too easily, and have to store apps on SD, which I hate doing. The HD2 has the most development out of the 3, and possibly the most out of any phone ever. You can dual boot WP7 and Android, which is really cool, and it just recently got WP7 Tango [ the latest version of WP7.5] ported to it. You can dual boot on the others as well via BootManager app from the Market, but it's more limited than on the HD2; with the app, each ROM must use the same kernel, while on the HD2, you can say have a Sensation XL ROM on NAND, and MIUI V4 + CM7 running on SD. It's getting older [they all are, they all have the Snapdragon 1 ], but it performs well unless you are trying to play intense games such as GTAIII. I forgot, there's also the OG Desire and Incredible, which also have the good sized dev support, but aren't too pricey as they have the same specs as the 3 above phones.
Yeah I have found a HTC HD2 on eBay and they are for a reasonable price $125-200 and I am thinking about getting it
Awesome! Oh, you had mentioned getting into making ROMs somewhere- Look at DsiXDA's HTC ROM kitchen [ there's also another one, I forget it's name, for making HD2 SD ROMs]. Take a look at that and maybe get familiar with it, telling your dad you're going to develop for your new phone might convince him a little more to let you get it
