I have found a pretty good deal for a gently used htc thunderbolt for sale locally.
    He is asking for $150/obo.

I currently have an iPhone 4, but I really want an LTE device and I like Android. Does anyone have any experience with the Thunderbol compared to the iPhone 4?
    Thanks for the advice!!

The Thunderbolt has pretty bad battery life [unless you get the extended battery], but if you intend on rooting, a non-Sense ROM would probably give you better life.

Do you think I will be able to get through a full day without charging? I usually only use about 50% of my iPhone's battery in a day.

With a custom ROM, you should. The Thunderbolt battery is awful as it is..

By the way, if you had any intention to install an ICS ROM, be aware that data and mobile network doesn't work because Verizon takes forever to release the damn RILs for the phone.

If you could possibly wait and save money and get a Rezound instead, you'd enjoy that much better.

Yeah, I'm not in any hurry, and I'm not eligible for an upgrade for over a year. I just am tired of 3G data speeds now that my city has 4G. I'm sure that any of the other 4G smartphones would be better than the Thunderbolt, but that is about the only one that is affordable enough to buy off-contract.

    Another question:
Do you think Verizon will let me keep my unlimited data plan if I upgrade to a 4G plan/device?

If you really want unlimited 4G, switch to Sprint; it'd be your best option. One of my friends has the EVO and uses tons of data a month from streaming video, browsing, and letting half our class tether off his hotspot, and he's never gotten any extra charges [obviously!]. I'm not sure what good 4G phones Sprint currently has though [ I would say the EVO 4G like my friend has, but it has the 1st gen Snapdragon and just got it's EOL for updates]
