You do realize there are multiple repositories, right? A server getting hammered will have NO EFFECT on the actual app itself, aside from the packages downloading slowly.

You're right, but the OP asked about Cydia crashing, i.e. exiting to the Springboard = software bugs, not affected by the server.

wrong, the "client" draws info from the server. if the repos on the server are being hammered with downloads, the client is drawing all of that and thus will time out. crash.. no. i doubt that the programming for cydia would make it crash if the server got flooded... i have more faith in saurik's programming than that.. but def will make the time outs occur.

But we aren't talking about time-outs here. We're talking about Cydia, crashing. No programmer will program a piece of software to crash if the servers are overloaded.

right. originally u said that the app wouldn't b effected at all.. which isn't the case, but u changed what u said and said that it wouldn't b effected short of slow downloads. so.. in light of the new context, u r correct, for crashing, the server shouldn't have any effect on the app.

I meant it wouldn't affect Cydia crashing, which are software bugs/

I meant what I said out of my previous post. I probably had a brain fart and wrote it wrong. But I did not change my train of thought.

I found the easiest way to fix all the problems with cydia is to not use it and instead use Icy! No more "Reloading Data" pop-up's either!
