Hmm... I really don't know then. Just so were clear, you added the SMS string properly, you respringed/rebooted, and it still gives you an error when sending and Messages shows a green send button? Is that with or without SMS GV Extension installed? And if it is, do you have an account setup and in the SMS GV extension settings?

I have an iPod touch 4G and the <key>sms</key> string is not shoeing up in iFile. I navigated to Applications/MobileSMS.app/Info.plist and the string doesn't exist. And FaceTime does not work for me.

Btw, everything else worked totally fine. Thanks a LOT for this tutorial! :D

Just add SMS to your N**AP.plist, it's a littler different now that all the devices have the messages app.

Okay, I started getting a weird problem today.
Basically iMessage crashes when I try to receive a Message.
I've narrowed the problem down to the SMS Extension itself, in the Receive settings.
And the problem just came up out of nowhere...

Hmm... I don't have this issue... What other things do you have installed?

OK: i have an ipt 4G with 5.0.1, the sms extension, and a license for it (check for license switch gives me a registered status). I have the google voice app installed anyway, and logged into the settings pane of gv entension and in the official app. I have added the sms key to my plist for my ipod. yet, after reboots and reinstalls the messages wont come to my imessages app! I get the banner for a message in the official app, but i have the receive settings for the extension at: Official GV App: OFF; Local Mail: OFF. shouldnt it go to my imessages app now? i have done this the hard way (extracting the sms app from a firmware file for my ipt 2G) so i know all about this, but cant figure out why the messages wont come through the native app! any advice is appreciated on how to get this working :D

EDIT: I got it working, turns out i forgot a / while adding the key to my plist file. thanks for the great guide! :)

Has anyone had any luck with getting the MobilePhone.app running on an iTouch 4G for use with the GV Phone Extension?? :)

The way you reroute the messaging apps input for incoming and outgoing sms is amazing, which file did you edit? and more importantly would it be possible for you to take the sms data from an external location ie a peel for ipod touch over dock connection . Something tells me you could do it
