Thinking of getting a new 16gb 2g and selling my 16gbn 1g for the built in speaker.

Saves having to always get my headphones out and untangle them.

But it needs to be fairly clear and loud especially for the games.

Anyone got one yet to comment?

    Its kind of...

It really is nothing to brag about, the sound quality is just plain bad...It serves its purpose for applications and stuff, but overall I think its just a not well thought out feature.

I really like the sound on my G2 iPod touch. It really isn't suppose to be the best out there, it is meant for casual listening, not some amazing experience. It serves its purpose and I frankly love it because now I don't have to hold the damn headphones to my friends' ears when I want them to listen to something. I give it 2 thumbs up.

That youtube video is not a good example. The quality is much better then that. The one thing I think you should realize is that if your in school in a free period or lunch or something, you probably won't be able to hear the speaker (even at full volume) unless you hold it to your ear. It's not too loud, but outside it seems louder (maybe it's just me, idk) and it's a great thing to have. I love it.

Yeah, and the Youtube video made it seem like the 2G is louder then an iPhone speaker, which it isn't - the iPhone speaker is almost twice as loud in my experience - and there's an iLounge review that backs that up.
